Shallowater ISD – Five (5) 50 KW Wind Turbine Installation

Shallowater is located in the northwest corner of Lubbock County, Texas.  Shallowater ISD has five wind turbines on site, which generate 30% of the schools’ electric needs. The district has educational partnerships with Texas Tech University.  The College of Engineering & Geosciences uses the school turbine site for K-16+ training in their new Doctorial program in Wind Turbine Technology.

Mr. Warren, the Shallowater ISD superintendent, has spoken to the Texas Education Agency at a statewide leadership conference. His topic was “Sustainable Leadership and Thinking outside the box”. He has spoken at Regional energy conferences in Lubbock, Amarillo, and Sweetwater, Texas.  Shallowater ISD is the largest school wind turbine site in the U.S.
